    • A large collection of Master Dogen’s essays. There are several different English translations of the entire collection available. Free PDFs of an older, but still reliable, translation of this work can be accessed here: Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, Vol. 4.

  • Charlotte Joko Beck, Everyday Zen

  • Jakusho Kwong, Mind Sky: Zen Teachings on Living and Dying

  • Jakusho Kwong, No Beginning, No End: The Intimate Heart of Zen

  • Shohaku Okumura, any books by him

    • A Soto teacher and translator, he has written a number of execllent commentaries on Dogen and other works

  • Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind

    • This is an essential classic, and we recommend everyone start with this
